18925686<p><strong>First edition of the best Russian translation of Spinoza's '</strong><strong><em>Ethics</em>'</strong><strong>.</strong></p><p>The translator <strong>Nikolai Ivantsov</strong> 1863-1927 a philosopher and biologist was a member of the Moscow Psychological Society which was the first professional association of psychologists in Russia. He completed this translation in 1884 at the age of 21 but chose not to publish it at the time. His translation was subsequently reissued several times in both Russia and the USSR. <br />It's worth noting that <em>the Spinoza Collection</em> at The Hebrew Union College Library does not include a copy of this particular edition.</p><p>OCLC locates one copy of this edition in the US only: in University of Pennsylvania Libraries. </p> Tip.
