168242963Amstelodami Amsterdam: Henricum & Viduam Theodori Boom 1682. Hardcover. Very Good. Desiderius Erasmus is reported to have been born in Rotterdam on 28 October in 1466. He was given the highest education available to a young man of his day in a series of monastic or semi-monastic schools. In 1492 poverty forced Erasmus into the consecrated life. He took vows as a canon regular at the canonry of Stein in South Holland and was ordained to the Catholic priesthood at about the age of 25 but he never seemed to have actively worked as a priest The popularity of his books is reflected in the number of editions and translations that have appeared since the sixteenth century." See Wikipedia. 503 pages in Latin including Epistola Ad Christianiss Regem Gallorum Franciscum I and index. Bound in original vellum with lettering on the spine. Penciled notes and owner's signature on the front endpapers. Vellum and text block edges moderately soiled and just a few pages with a hint of moisture else an about very good tight copy.

Henricum & Viduam Theodori Boom hardcover
