Ernesto Mayz Vallenilla Saltar a: navegación, búsqueda Ernesto Mayz Vallenilla (Maracaibo, 3 de septiembre de 1925) es un filósofo venezolano. Estudió bachillerato en el Liceo de Aplicación, el Liceo Fermín Toro y se graduó de bachiller en el Liceo Andrés Bello, todos ellos en la ciudad de Caracas. Se graduó en filosofía y literatura en la Universidad Central de Venezuela en la Primera Promoción de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras en el año 1950 donde obtuvo luego su doctorado en Filosofía. Estudió en las Universidades de Göttingen, Friburgo y Múnich, llegando a ser alumno de Martin Heidegger. Fue profesor de la Universidad Central de Venezuela y rector fundador de la Universidad Simón Bolivar. De esta última casa de estudios, Ernesto Mayz Vallenilla es el autor de la letra de su himno (Canción del Nuevo Mundo), con música de Alberto Grau. Son notables sus teorías sobre la razón técnica que se muestran en su libro Esbozo de una crítica de la razón técnica de 1974.1 En 2001 la Sociedad Argentina de Filosofía consideró a Mayz Vallenilla como el más destacado filosofo Latinoamericano del siglo veinte.
