Binding in excellent condition.Internally no loose pages month inscription in early hand on top margin of Jan/Fed/March some occasional light staining a few sections have been cleaned small chip from margin of frontis. Binding is quite nice without appreciable wear; minor soiling to the wrappers; old dampstain to the top margin mostly visible on the rear wrapper and less so on the front wrapper and title page; otherwise only minor evidence of it on the very top of the margin. <br /> <br /> The first edition of this address was delivered in Richmond in 1884 before the Virginia Division of the Association of the Army of Northern Virginia. Neither are common. Despite Maryland remaining in the Union Johnson was a significant in promoting the Confederate cause. He was instrumental in raising the First Maryland Infantry C.S.A. at the outset of the war.
