Nessun filosofo può sottrarsi al rischio di rimanere preda dei paradossi che arriva a vedere e pensare, al rischio di esplodere in volo un attimo dopo averli sfiorati con le proprie ali. Come Kierkegaard testimonia e come Jean Luc Marion sottolinea “un pensatore senza paradosso è come l’amante senza passione, pura mediocrità”. Il pensiero di Simone Weil non può che sottrarsi a qualsiasi sospetto in tal senso: la sua idea di Dio propone paradossi incalzanti cui la sua stessa vita rimase a lungo sospesa e il fatto stesso che per lei Dio possa manifestarsi solo tramite la sua assenza risulta fondamentale per poter comprendere il suo rapporto con la fede cristiana. L’esperienza della sventura ha proprio la prerogativa di rendere “Dio assente per un certo tempo”, un tempo in cui, “bisogna che l’anima continui ad amare a vuoto, o almeno a voler amare, seppure con una parte infinitesimale di se stessa. Allora un giorno Dio le si mostrerà e svelerà la bellezza del mondo, come accade a Giobbe”. La sventura è per la Weil un dispositivo semplice: raduna tutto il male e lo raccoglie in un unico punto per trasfigurare il dolore di cui l’essere umano è capace in una dimensione impersonale.
