40744WORKING CLASS HOUSING WEIL E.J. HOMES FOR WORKING PEOPLE. Cleveland: circa 1890-1900. Printed broadside 12 x 7 1/2 inches. Rare item not recorded on OCLC. A trapezoidal shaped piece of land bounded a St. Clair St. at the top Doan Street on the right and Garfield Avenue at th bottom designated "E.J. Weil's Allotment" in the Glenville portion of Cleveland. This development is typical of thousands of similar nineteenth beginning of the twentieth century. The ad copy touts low taxes and good health "being close to the Lake and subject to its pure breezes." Wikipedia states that Glenville is a neighborhood on the east side of Cleveland. Print on one side only. Short split at one fold but no loss; a very good copy. unknown

Weil was respected as one of the most scholarly of post-war booksellers - his bibliography of Albert Einstein remains sought-after - and the catalogues are valuable reference tools for anyone collecting or dealing in his fields. Arnold Hunt has recently written that "Weil joined the distinguished bookseller E.P.Goldschmidt & Co. in 1933 to develop a .specialism in the history of science and medicine in which he proved so successful that he eventually set up on his own and in financial terms did far better than Goldschmidt himself.
