br. La riflessione di Simone Weil sull'impersonale dischiude un orizzonte di speranza a un Occidente che sembra avere smarrito il proprio senso. La nozione di impersonale compare nella sua opera matura, precisandosi in particolare negli scritti di Londra. Si tratta di un concetto che coinvolge le coordinate metafisiche, filosofiche ed esistenziali dell'intero percorso di ricerca di Simone Weil, tanto da poterlo interpretare come un aprés-coup, che, una volta messo a fuoco, risignifica tutto il suo percorso. Esso prende forma nella riflessione nata da un'esperienza mistica, che è rimasta un evento privato della sua esistenza ma che ha dato una svolta radicale alla sua ricerca. Il concetto di impersonale viene considerato in particolare nei suoi effetti sul pensiero politico di Simone Weil, che lo pone al centro della propria riflessione così da arrivare a concepire un legame politico sottratto sia al collettivo sia all'individualismo. Il testo essenziale per questa indagine è "La persona e il sacro", opera scritta a Londra, assieme a La prima radice. L'impersonale, come ciò che non è riducibile alla persona, le permette di aprire un campo di indagine che riguarda le istituzioni, il diritto e la loro insufficienza a contrastare il movimento montante delle società di massa e dei totalitarismi che sorgono negli anni Venti e Trenta del Novecento in Europa. Si apre allora una precisa e appassionata indagine su cosa siano istituzioni accettabili, comunità che non alienino ciò che di sacro esiste nella singolarità.
