This autobiographical novel recounts the childhood and trials of a redheaded child named Francois Lepic who is the victim of an unloving family and must be cunning in the face of the daily humiliations he experiences. This is the most famous work of French author Jules Renard who was notably a member of the Academie Goncourt. Bound in quarter crushed morocco with marbled boards and endpapers. Externally very smart with slight rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages are age toned but very clean.
