Inscribed on front end paper from Pat. The inscription makes it obvious that this is the author. No other marks or inscriptions. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked cream cloth boards and no bumping to corners. Dust jacket clipped but not price clipped and not marked or torn or creased. 267pp. Marie Nordlinger came to Paris from Manchester in 1896 to stay with her cousin Reynaldo Hahn and there met his friend Marcel Proust, at that time an aspiring novelist. She translated into French the works of Ruskin for him and remained friends until his death thirty years later. This book recounts the relationship between these young people in fin-de-siecle Paris through an analysis of Marie's correspondence.
