(faux titre et titre), XL pp. (préface de Nisard) ; 356 pp. Reliure de l'époque en demi basane maroquinée vert Empire, décor romantique doré au dos, titre doré. Quelques minimes défauts: une coupe légèrement frottée, discret manque angulaire à qq. pp. , en fin de volume; charmant exemplaire tout de même. Peu commun. Recueil d'articles ou de fragments grapillés lors des réunions de lecture chez Juliette Récamier (Nisard, qui n'y assistait pas aurait eu ses indicateurs...) et qui eurent un succès énorme; on glorifiait le génie littéraire de l'auteur. La prépublication en feuilleton (1848-1850) puis en volumes n'eurent pourtant qu'un succès limité.
