Fu comunque uomo di molteplici interessi e di grande influenza in Italia. Bella Legatura pregiata coeva in mezza pergamena con titoli e ricchi fregi in oro al dorso. Piatti marmorizzati. Qualche lieve segno del tempo (in uno dei volumi manca la fascetta con il titolo). Lievi insignificante macchiolina di foxing e brunitura in poche pagine ma nel complesso esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione. Seconda edizione notevolmente aumentata rispetto alla prima del 1784, di questa interessante volume di pedagogia del celebre uomo politico ed agronomo francese (originario delle Fiandere), Jean Jacques Fillassier. Entusiasta lettore degli scritti di Jean-Jacques Rousseau, compose a dua volta diversi libri in materia di istruzione. Fu stato membro delle accademie di Arras, Lione, Marsiglia e Tolosa. Agronomo, ha diretto il "Clamart" vivaio. Anche se fu molto impegnato nella vita politica dei primi anni della Rivoluzione francese, gli abitanti del quartiere di Bourg-la-Reine lo elessero capo magistrato e membro dell'Assemblea legislativa. Incriminato seguendo il 10 agosto 1792, si ritirò a Clamart. L'opera qui presentata si inserisce nel filone dei classici studi pegaogico-filosofico. Esemplare in buone ottime condizioni. Stigmatizzato come il teorico di una sovranità popolare che mette a repentaglio i diritti fonda-mentali degli individui e la stabilità della costituzione, Rousseau sembra oscillare tra una visio-ne della politica come palingenesi terrena e un pessimismo radicale verso le istituzioni sociali. Sulla base di un'accurata rilettura dei manoscritti e dei testi di Rousseau, di un confronto con le teorie giusnaturaliste e le vicende della repubblica ginevrina, Gabriella Silvestrini propone una diversa interpretazione del pensiero politico di questo autore e di alcuni suoi concetti chiave: democrazia, repubblica, volontà generale e religione civile. In tale prospettiva la teoria politica di Rousseau appare segnata dall'intento di riformulare in chiave repubblicana le concezioni contrattualistiche imprimendo, attraverso il concetto di vo-lontà generale, un carattere altamente costituzionale all'idea di sovranità popolare elaborata dai suoi predecessori. Petit in-8 (178 x 109 mm), demi-maroquin rouge cerise à coins, dos lisse orné d'une guirlande torsadée dorée en place de nerfs, pièce de titre de maroquin olive, tranches bleutées (reliure de l'époque), (6), 326 p. et (2) p. d'errata et achevé d'imprimer, imprimé sur vergé bleuté. Véritable édition originale, de premier tirage. Elle est parue sans nom d'auteur, en 326 pages et un feuillet final d'errata non chiffré. L’achevé d'imprimer porte la mention: "Imprimé chez Jean Piere Treder" [sic]. Le testament politique de Sénac de Meilhan. Refusant le genre polémique des ouvrages consacrés par ses contemporains à la défense de l'Ancien Régime, Sénac se livre à une analyse lucide et sans concession de la France pré-révolutionnaire: les institutions monarchiques, les hommes, les moeurs, etc. Loin de considérer l'esprit philosophique comme un danger pour l'État, il regrette que le pouvoir n'ait pas eu les moyens d'en appliquer les principes aux objets de l'administration. Il voit dans la chute de la royauté plus une « dissolution qu'une révolution », précipitée par l'incurie des hommes en place et la mise à l'écart de ceux qui auraient pu sauver le régime dont Turgot. Apprécié par Senancour comme Stendhal, cet ouvrage était considéré par Sainte-Beuve comme "un des meilleurs de cette littérature de l'émigration" ('Causeries du Lundi', X, 120). (Barbier, II, 550.
