This moving letter signed "Sue" was a response to a friend who was exiled in Spain. Sue wrote this letter also while in exile and described the suffering he experienced being away from home. He thanked his friend for a letter and asked him where and how Sue could send him a book edited in Geneva. Small tears along the folds; paperclip impression in the top margin; Sue's name and dates written in a different hand on the bottom margin; partially-erased pencil notations on the back. Another sprawling epic was LE JUIF ERRANT 1844-45 in which the descendants of a man who once aided the Wandering Jew are summoned to Paris to receive the fortune which has been gathering interest for centuries.
