Original blue smooth-weave cloth with gilt lettering decorations and rule to the spine and upper board. All edges gilt. A little bruising to the backstrip ends and a touch of light wear to the corner tips and several other extremities. A very minor slant to the binding. Some spotting to the frontispiece tissue offset to the adjacent leaves and with some further occasional spotting and finger-soiling to some margins. A nice bright copy of this North American-set Kipling novel originally serialised in "McClure's" between November 1896 and May 1897 and much admired by Theodore Roosevelt. Macmillan & Co.
