A very rare copy of this classic Kipling collection of twenty-four poems and short stories. There is no writing marks or underlining except for a previous owner's inscription dated 1904 on the front free endpaper. No bookplates. Spine is tight and crisp. Boards are flat and true and the corners are square. There is some bumping on the corners and the top and bottom edges of the spine. The gold gilt lettering on the spine is slightly less bright than that on the front cover which remains near perfect. There is also gold gilt on the top edge. Pages are slightly browned and the front pastedown endpaper is cracked along the gutter. No dust jacket. These are relatively minor flaws as this copy remains quite appealing.
