Shortly after publication Jacob Schwartz proprietor of The Ulysses Bookshop informed Joyce that twenty-two sets of this work and its companion volume were sent to libraries ten sets to friends and one set each to Joyce Stuart Gilbert and Harriet Shaw Weaver. He retained five sets which he assured Joyce would not be offered for sale. He did not however provide an accounting of the "Press" copies in that letter.
