In two volumes. Containing the ownership bookplate of Philip S. Corbet a British entomologist and expert in Odonata.Volume I is illustrated with four plates and one in-text illustration volume II with seven plates. Collated complete.The second impression of this work from November 1900 printed the month following the first. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; extremities are rather bumped with some wear to the boards and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally binding is a little tender throughout with occasional strain noticeable. Frontispiece is near loose due to the front hinge strain of volume I. Huxley demonstrated that this tail is a retained larval feature lost by most adult ascidians.
