He was chosen as one of the secretaries of the Royal Society published a variety of philosophical works was a member of the London School board and served on six royal commissions. This was in addition to his lecturing and his scientific publications. Huxley is known as "Darwin's Bulldog" for his advocacy of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. Huxley's London home in which he wrote many of his works was at 4 Marlborough Place St John's Wood. The house was extended in the early 1870s to include a large drawing and dining room at which he held informal Sunday gatherings. unknown
