1961008443Mundelein Illinois: Palmer Publications Inc. 1961. The complete run of 16 magazines A-1 through A-16 published 1961-1964. A-1 Very Good abrasions to rear wrapper uniform browning to pages. The rest Near Fine to Fine. Raymond A. Palmer was editor at Amazing Stories in 1943 when he began publishing the stories of Richard Shaver dubbing it "The Shaver Mystery". Shaver claimed to have telepathic abilities which made him realize there were aliens living in caverns deep within the earth. The initial and subsequent publications of Shaver's stories dramatically increased the subscription of Amazing Stories while at the same time generating much discussion and controversy within the science fiction community. By 1948 Amazing Stories discontinued Shaver's stories due to loss of circulation. Palmer went on to publishing more occult and pseudoscience launching such magazines as Fate Mystic Magazine Search Other Worlds Imagination Universe Science Fiction and Science Stories. His last publication was Hidden Worlds 16 magazines containing 3200 pages and roughly 2 million words. SCARCE as the complete set. First Printing. Magazine. The front and spine of the dust jacket are nearly prisine but the rear of the jacket has a tear at the top approximately 12 mm 0.5 inches long and also has a moderate amount of soiling see photos. The bottom edges of the book are slightly bumped and the pages are somewhat faded but is otherwise in fine shape. Comes in a mylar protective cover. All books are bubble-wrapped and placed in a sturdy shipping box when mailed. Orders are normally processed within 24 hours often on the same day they are received.

The story was originally published in 1941 but that version did not contain the term; Blish is thought to have added it in a rewrite done for the anthology which was first published in 1952. From 1962 to 1968 Blish worked for the Tobacco Institute. Then in 1968 Blish left his native United States and moved to Henley-on-Thames England. From 1967 to 1977 Blish worked on a series of books for the Star Trek franchise. Near Fine faint marginal creases visible from verso hidden by mat from the front. Mel Hunter was best known for his science fiction illustrations for Isaac Asimove and Robert A. Heinlein and a successful career in scientific illustration. Hunter moved to Vermont in 1967 and began creating lithographs of the surrounding Vermont countryside. In 1976 after accidental damage to his limestone lithographic drawing Hunter began using mylar as a medium for his lithography. thus dating this print from 1967-1976. The Artist unknown
