A scarce first edition of this thrilling work of fiction by American author Percival Wilde. This is a first edition of the work in original publisher's cloth binding and clipped dust wrapper. This was the first novel of American writer Percival Wilde who was best known for his one-act plays. Wilde studied and lived in New York in the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth Century. This particular work follows the story of an ambitious young woman named Molly May who stops at nothing to get what she wants. Wilde explores the lengths his character will go to in order to escape her poor upbringing. Set partly in New York in the late Nineteenth Century and partly in a small Connecticut town in the Twentieth Century. In original publisher's black cloth binding with a clipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Slight marks to boards mainly to the front. Age toning and the odd mark to endpapers. Dust wrapper in good condition with chipping to the extremities and the odd closed tear. Tape to the reverse of the wrap. Slight age toning and sunning to the wrap. The odd mark to the wrap with a small price clip on each corner of the inner flaps. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with light age toning.
