Solid and VG in its 1/4 navy-blue cloth over light-blue boards with a clean bright title-label to the front panel. Light scuffing to the panels light wear along the tips and the spine ends --and a partially-torn spine label. Internally beautifully-designed endpapers and magnificent Pogany color illustrations as well as silhouettes and marginalia at virtually every page. Very light soiling and several minor chips not affecting the plates at a few of the lower-edges tender but still perfectly sturdy inner hinges half-title/frontispiece page loose. VERY HANDSOME ISSUE OF THE POGANY ILLUSTRATED RUBAIYAT. An exquisite volume in a beautiful publisher’s gift binding. Based on Fitzgerald’s translation Pogany has filled each page with decorative Islamic style borders and decorations accompanied by 16 full page tipped-in color plates. Rare et précieux exemplaire enrichi de deux deux superbes dédicaces, sur deux pages de l'auteure. L'une est signée Colette de Jouvenel, datée de 1919 et l'autre lui faisant face est signée, Colette, et datée de 1939.
