Stapled binding. 30 × 23cm 32pp. This is the first issue of the short-lived theatrical magazine The Thespian published in October 1913. A magazine for the theatre stage and drama with contemporary adverts play reviews theatrical events etc. Of chief interest among the contents are what looks like a satirical / spoof interview with Willy Clarkson the theatrical costumier wig-maker and colourful character by "Our Imaginative Interviewer" but there is also an advert for Clarkson's Wardour Street shop so probably with his blessing or authored by him. Clarkson was in and out of the papers in the late Victorian and Edwardian age he was even suspected of either being or kitting out Jack the Ripper due to his skill at disguising people!; the first part of Shakespearean actor Allan Wilkie's "An Actor in the Orient" his Shakespeare company had toured Ceylon India Japan etc in 1911-1913; articles on Gilbert and Sullivan Opera; The Worcester Shakespeare Festival; Hints on Make-Up; and with two loose as intended portraits of Mr W Harold Squire and Miss Kate Harris. Condition: This copy is in very good condition for age. There is some creasing and scuffing to the cover's edges and spine and some tanning to the pages but otherwise this remains complete and in good order. <br/> <br/> The Thespian Publishing Co paperback
