Overall a fine copy of a fragile book. An address by Stevenson to the Speculative Society of Edinburgh in March 1873. The colophon states the typography was designed by Edwin Grabhorn and printed by The Kennedy-ten Bosch Company under the direction of Haywood H. Hunt. A note in the Grabhorn bibliography p.34 states that the colophon statement was an error and that the Press had nothing to do with the publication. John Howell hardcover books

The parchment spine and tips are very clean with only a touch of the green of the box. The pages are mostly unopened. The outer slipcase has two small splits at opening and one bump. "Vailima" "five rivers" was the name Stevenson gave to the home he and his family made for themselves in Samoa.
