Telephone Talk was the glossy bimonthly publication of the British Columbia Telephone Company. It was written by employees for employees to present information of interest to those engaged in the plant, traffic, commercial, operating, accounting and other departments of the service. Each issue is replete with black and white photos and information on topics such as: company, industry and technological news, traffic levels, expansion plans, personnel announcements, publicity and social events, deaths, weddings, lists of exchanges, and more. Edizione originale. Tutto il pubblicato da gennaio a novembre del 1935 (11 numeri in 10 fascicoli). Normali abrasioni e segni del tempo alle brossure, ma ottimi esemplari. Rivista mensile fondata nel gennaio del 1935 per promuovere la cultura e il turismo della città di Como diretta - almeno fino alla quinta uscita del maggio 1935 - da Carlo Peroni e Alberto Savinio. Milanese fortemente legato al territorio lariano e gallerista divenuta podestà della piccola Blevio, Peroni fu di fatto il vero ideatore del periodico, a cui dedicò energie e risorse affinché esso fosse non soltanto uno strumento di promozione turistica ma anche un mezzo attraverso cui aprire gli orizzonti culturali di Como e del tessuto circostante. Breve fu invece l’impegno di Alberto Savinio - al secolo Andrea Francesco Alberto De Chirico, scrittore e pittore fratello minore del più noto Giorgio – che, in quel momento residente a Roma, abbandonò la co-direzione dopo pochissimi mesi. E se contaminare il “regionale” con il nazionale era il compito che la rivista si prefiggeva - con la copertina appositamente realizzata dallo scultore e incisore Arturo Martini -, ecco allora la presenza di figure importanti del panorama artistico, letterario e giornalistico: Carlo Linati, Leonardo Sinisgalli, Enrico Falqui, Libero de Liberi, Salvatore Quasimodo, Margherita Sarfatti sono i nomi a cui con maggiore frequenza furono affidate le pagine della prima annata, prima che insuperabili difficoltà economiche imponessero la sospensione delle pubblicazioni fino al 1937. Il ritorno del mensile, tuttavia, fu segnato da una collaborazione d’eccezione: a Ezra Pound, che Peroni aveva conosciuto già nel 1935, fu infatti assegnata una rubrica di recensioni di libri inglesi e americani ancora sconosciuti – o scarsamente conosciuti – nel nostro paese. Il “Servizio di comunicazioni”, questo il nome della rubrica poundiana, segnò il punto di maggiore apertura internazionale del «Broletto», periodico locale che sognò, fino alla sua chiusura nel 1938, di fare di Como uno specchio e una parte del mondo.
