An uncommon first edition copy of this work in the publisher's original paper wraps with the original unclipped dust wrapper designed by the notable French painter Roger Bezombes 1913-1994.Ink inscriptions to the rear end paper.Georges Simenon 1903-1989 was a popular Belgian author best remembered for his detective novels featuring his famous character Maigret. This is an unusual Maigret novel set in Tucson Arizona. While Maigret is on a study trip he witnesses a coroner's inquest.There were no large paper editions of this novel. This is the first edition written in the original French. In the publisher's original paper wraps with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally smart with minor shelf wear to the joints and head and tail of the spine. Mark to the head of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Marginal age toning to pages which are otherwise bright and clean. Dust wrapper remains bright with edgewear. Due to large tears to the fold of the fly leaves dust wrapper may come apart into three sections with further handling.
