Elle a servi à l'édition originale de l'album en trois cahiers paru chez Dargaud en février mai et septembre 2023. Le scénario de ce biopic est l'œuvre conjointe José-Louis Bocquet Jean-Luc Fromental et John Simenon illustré par les dessins en noir et blanc de Jacques de Loustal reproduits en fac-similé. . Riche idée pour les éditions Dargaud de proposer un triptyque illustré en bande dessinée sur Georges Simenon le père du Commissaire Maigret : trois cahiers pour découvrir la biographie du maître du roman policier son activité débordante et sa capacité à écrire à une vitesse folle son goût de l’aventure et son quotidien qu’il partage avec la charismatique artiste Régine dite Tigy. Comme dans les romans de Simenon la façon est remarquable : l’art de transformer le réel et le banal en moments uniques et savoureux. L’œuvre semble tenir son nom d’un juron qu’on croirait tout droit sorti de la bouche du capitaine Haddock : « L’Ostrogoth ». Mais en vérité c’est le nom d’un robuste cotre que Simenon s’est fait construire sur les chantiers de Fécamo. Livré il l’amarre au square du Vert-Galant à Paris et le fait baptiser en avril 1929 par le curé de Notre-Dame ! Georges Simenon et Tigy voyageront jusqu’en 1931 vers le nord de l’Europe dans cette embarcation. Le temps pour le graphomane belge d’inonder les éditeurs de contes et de romans à deux sous écrits sous pseudonymes mais aussi – et surtout – d’inventer lors d’une escale forcée à Delfzijl aux Pays-Bas la figure du commissaire Maigret. Rentré en France il amarre L’Ostrogoth à Morsang et le premier roman que Simenon va y écrire est Un crime en Hollande dans lequel Maigret enquête justement à Delfzijl en une sorte de clin d’œil souvenir que Simenon adresse à son héros… L’Ostrogoth restera le lieu d’écriture pour les romans suivants jusqu’en novembre 1930 moment où il décidera de s’en séparer. Sur les douze romans Maigret écrits jusque-là huit l’ont été sur l’Ostrogoth. Cette planche 78 est la dernière du premier volume qui s’achève justement sur le baptême de « L’Ostrogoth » et la fête qui y est donnée ensuite. [Paris, 2022].
