The first of the three charming tales present here is the 1845 James Burns edition of Adelbert Chamisso's 'The Shadowless Man' in a scarce early English language translation of the original German. Featuring a small number of vignette illustrations and a frontispiece.The second tale present bound without a title page is Charles Nodier's scarce children's tale 'Bean Flower and Pea Blossom' published by Chapman and Hall in 1846.This delightful work of fantasy is illustrated with a chromolithograph plate and numerous vignette illustrations from engraver Tony Johannot and features nine pages of publisher's advertisements for 'The Boy's Own Book'.The final work is an 1845 James Burns edition of 'Fables and Parables' featuring English translations of German stories by Lessing Herder Gellert and Meissner and with a small number of vignette illustrations.With a contemporary inscription to the head of the title page of 'Fables and Parables' dated 1845. In a full cloth binding. Bumping to spine tail with the odd light mark to boards otherwise externally excellent. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright with the odd light spot.
