Il loro aspetto editoriale è sopratutto pratico: indicano che quel libro è utile per un gran numero di lettori, per lo specialista come per il neofita, per i docenti come per gli studenti. In breve, ognuno, quale che sia il suo livello di cultura, troverà un interesse nel consultarlo. Anche la presente raccolta, Teorica di arredamento e design, mira a conquistare il maggior numero possibile di lettori, avvertendo tuttavia, a costo di ridurre l´auto-pubblicità, che essa è sì accessibile a tutti, ma in maniera distinta. Infatti, data l´eterogeneità dell´argomento – già in partenza dedicato a due discipline – le diverse tematiche e i molti livelli di approfondimento, fanno sì che il testo, possa essere letto per intero, ma anche consultato per parti. Lo studioso di teoria, di metodologia, di estetica, di storia e di critica d´arte trova i suoi interessi nei saggi pubblicati in precedenti libri e riviste specializzate in senso teorico (segnatamente «Op.cit.»). L´architetto, il designer, l´arredatore, lo studente possono senza danno ignorare completamente questo tipo di saggi e consultare quelli originariamente apparsi su pubblicazioni più professionali, quali «Domus», «Ottagono», «Casa Vogue», ecc. I tecnici appena menzionati più i sociologi, gli economisti, i critici del costume e simili. troveranno interesse per gli articoli apparsi sui giornali, quali «Il Sole-24 Ore», «Il Messaggero», «Il Mattino». Il libro contiene inoltre conferenze, relazioni a convegni, prefazioni, recensioni, che, a seconda dell´argomento, dovrebbero riguardare tutte le categorie suddette. Del resto questa molteplicità di fruizione non dovrebbe meravigliare data la natura stessa della disciplina trattata. Se infatti l´architettura, che riguarda soprattutto un sol genere di produzione, quello dell´edificare, per dirla con Vitruvio, est scientia pluribus disciplinis et variis eruditionibus ornata, a maggior ragione il design, che riguarda ogni tipo di produzione, è una scienza che si compone a sua volta di più discipline e conoscenze.

I primi due volumi sono di Guido Maragoni mentre il terzo ed il quarto sono a firma di Alberto Clementi. Terza edizione a cura di Alberto Clementi, 1961 (volumi I e II); seconda edizione 1962 (Volumi III e volume "L'arte dell'arredamento"). Molto ricco l'apparato iconografico di questa opera che consta in numerose immagini fotografiche in nero nel testo e di numerose (99 in totale) tavole fotografiche, a piena pagina, sia a colori che in nero. Opera decisamente esaustiva sul tema della storia dell'arredamento (vengono trattate diverse epoche storiche e diversi oggetti che rientrano nel mondo dell'arredamento: mobili, carte da parati, illuminazione, arazzi, ceramiche, stoffe, oggetti in ferro battuto o in vetro, porcellane,..). Gli ultimi due volumi sono incentrati sull'epoca moderna e sul '900 e trattano numerosi stili (liberty, art Nouveau, ...) e numerosissimi designer italiani e stranieri. This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition at Waldemarsrudde, Stockholm during the late summer and fall of 2000. Organized by Ingrid Ehrhardt and Simon Reynolds. The exhibition also travelled to Birmingham, England and Frankfurt, Germany. In English the title of the exhibition is: 'Kingdom of the Soul - Symbolist Art in Germany, 1870 - 1920'. Essays by a dozen art historians on different aspects of the German Symbolist art movement. The largest section concerns painting, but also an extensive section on sculpture.
