Collated complete. Oberon is a faeire king in the lore of Medieval and Renaissance Europe and features heavily in European literature. This poem tells the tale of how Huon duke of Guienne becomes embroiled in a quarrel between Oberon and his queen Titania. This rendering by William Sotheby a famed translator and Romantic poet held in high regard by various well known figures of the day such as Byron and Wordsworth.This copy previously owned by English publisher and translator Roger Senhouse a peripheral member of the Bloomsbury Group of writers intellectuals and artists. Uniformly bound in full diced calf. Externally rubbing to the extremities and cracking to the joints which are starting but firm. Minor handling marks to the boards. Bookplate of one Roger Senhouse as well as a bookplate bearing an animal head engraving and initials. Internally firmly bound.
