Page edges untrimmed some tears where pages have been opened some of the upper edges appear to have been cut possible to open the gatherings. Offsetting and light foxing to endpapers. A few occasional marks and spots to text but otherwise in very clean condition throughout. An excellent example of the large paper limited edition beautifully illustrated by Arthur Gaskin Birmingham Group/ Arts and Crafts Movement. Overall condition is Very Good Plus. 20053179<p>A fine 2 volume set of Andersen's Fairy Tales in a very good slipcase. First edition thus. This Folio Society edition is a beautiful production with colour illustrations from a range of artists past and present including for example: Jane Ray William Heath Robinson John V Lord and Kay Nielsen. The turquoise cloth bindings are blocked with designs in gilt dark blue and silver by Peter Suart. Both bindings are very clean with bright colouring. The inner spine to Vol II has a slight ripple. Both have decorative title pages and the pagination is continuous between the volumes. Vol I - pp xxix 1-448; Vol II - pp 449-948 including notes on the illustrators. There are preliminary vignettes by Wilhelm Pedersen. Contents in fine clean condition. The slipcase is a dark blue colour with gilt titles and design to one side panel. It is very clean. There is a scuff with surface loss to the bottom panel which also has a small scuff to one corner. Please enquire if you would like to see additional images.</p> The Folio Society hardcover
