Overall a quite attractive second printing of this 1865 "Story of the Great Rebellion" being the fifth volume in Optic's six-volume series "The Army and Navy Stories." In a preface Adams makes a point of noting that "This volume. is not a biography of the distinguished soldier whose sobriquet in the army has been chosen as its principal title though the prominent incidents of his military career are noticed in its pages."
