These volumes collect seventy essays originally published in The London Magazine from November 1777 to August 1783 in which Boswell used "The Hypochondriack" persona to write on themes ranging from personal reflection to social commentary. This is the first time these essays were gathered and reprinted in book form.James Boswell 17401795 was a Scottish lawyer diarist and author best known for his monumental biography The Life of Samuel Johnson 1791 often considered the greatest biography in English literature.
