Text in German. The thermal baths as a building type spread very early in the provinces of the Roman Empire and were available not only to the Roman population but also to the local population. Magnificent thermal baths here had the task of promoting the power of the Roman Empire and the associated urban standard of living. When building a thermal bath architecture technology and decor should make meaningful reference to each other in the planning and execution of the building and should be coordinated accordingly. In addition to simple standardization however many thermal baths show obvious deviations in terms of architecture and technology as well as decorative equipment; the latter occupies the most important place in this work.
