Moscow and Leningrad: State Art Publishers 1939. Designed by Rodchenko and presumably issued as a companion volume to Soviet Aviation in the same year and in the same format. A marvelous example of Stalinist book design combining Rodchenko's modernist sensibility with typical Stalinist bombast. The large format photomontages extol the power and virtue of the Soviet Army at the dawn of the Second World War. Very slight bend to the cloth but generally an unusually fine copy. Karasik.
