Jennie "The Bazoom Girl" Lee began dancing after high school became a model then a must-see on strip circuits inspired Jan and Arnie's 1958 titular rock n' roll chart-topper and no dame of the dance did it with more bounce. She helped found the Strippers' Hall of Fame and Museum based on her "League of Exotic Dancers" organization. Very Good overall with press photo VG all with light foxing rubbing toning and item specifics noted. Five performance photos about 8x10 in four with 2 frames and one full-pg frame all with notations on the versos noting what likely 8mm film the frames originated. 21004101Japan ca. 1915. A color silk painting 30 x 20 cm. very clean and solid on very fine silk finely drawn & executed in color gouache. RARE ORIGINAL PAINTED ART WORK . . . AN ORIGINAL FINELY HAND-PAINTED . . . COLOR EROTIC SCENE . . . TAISHO PERIOD 1912-1926 . This work shows a Buddhist monk wearing a common Kimono with shaved head disguised as a commoner. He secretly visits his lover and willing bed partner. She appears to be a house wife obviously of another man. Buddhist priests never married though they carried on an erotic life style. . She wears an elaborate silk Kimono with period coiffure. Spreading her legs keeping her knees back welcoming her lover. Her feet express ecstasy curled and pointing upwards clutching her lover tight and close to her. The monk holds her back firmly and with his right hand grasping her knee keeping them up and back thus forcing her wide open. . She is flushed with excitement showing a pink facial flush eyes closed in ecstasy. There is a gray Furoshiki large silk scarf tied into a bag above the woman. It most likely contains the monks Buddhist robes. He thus avoids the attention of others when walking the streets. . CONDITION: The painting is flawlessly executed. It's very clean and solid no stain or other issues of importance. . The work was probably mounted on a stiff album page in its past. It has been expertly 'lifted' and shows the usual but minimal remains at the right and left edges which does not encroach on the painting. What little remains is easily matted out. There are a few small verso mends using period Washi handmade Japanese paper which will not be very visible from the front when mounted on white paper. . A very nicely executed example with good colors ready for matting and framing . Color photos are posted to our website. . REFERENCE: . Erotic books prints & paintings were "suppressed" by the Tokugawa Shogunate therefore the majority of these kinds of erotic sold on the 'black market' and not distributed openly. . These erotic paintings drawings and woodblock printed Shunga books & art remained on the 'fringe.' The Shogunate enforced stiff penalties for artists block cutters publishers & printers of erotica. The Shogunate and its sensors would not approve or provide Kiwame censor's seal for this category of art or books. Items without Kiwame were subject to confiscation and anyone involved with the items when distributed to the general public were often harshly punished with imprisonment. These remained in 'private collections' and were strictly & discretely sold traded and distributed 'under the table' during the Edo period 1603-1867. . REFERENCES: . SOUTHERN-STYLE EXOTIC & EROTIC TITLE PAINTING SET . . . THREE HAND-PAINTED COLOR PORCELAIN TILES . This is a set of three hand-painted & colored tiles each fired and kiln reduced on white porcelain. Each is very thin ca. 3mm. thick. . These are done in the "Southern" style in a semi-tropical setting common of Fujian Guangdong and Guangxi provinces during the turn-of-the century perhaps about 1900-1920's by stylistic analysis. The semi-tropical plants place the setting in the south-eastern part of China. They were most likely used in a scholar's private garden decorating a private room or alcove specially used for love-making on a lazy afternoon. . THE EROTIC SUBJECT PAINTED ON THE PORCELAIN TILES: A matching group of three. . The First tile: This shows a lovely scene along the river in the background with a weeping willow tree in the garden. The couple are on a garden bench making love. The girl mounts her lover side- ways. She is clothed in a silk chest vest he wears nothing else. She has her "golden lotus" bound feet lifted off the ground for deeper penetration. The "loving couple" show pleasant faces as she clutches her hands with her arms holding him fast. He gropes her buttock for more control. . The second tile: Shows the "loving couple" in a pavilion with the garden adjacent. She sits on the bed with her chartreuse robe under her fully naked body. He stands and leans his penis into her while she pulls him close with her arms. She wraps her left leg around him while touching his side with her right "golden lotus" bound foot. Both her "golden lotus" bound feet are visible. She kisses his left cheek in a passionate embrace. The couple are naked she is voluptuous with large breasts and looks as his "jade stick" with fascination He observes her "jade gate" while inserting his manhood into her. Her left "golden lotus" bound foot is visible. His pair of padded black shoes and a silk gown are on the grass with a lovely "scholar rock" in the foreground. . CHINESE FETISH OF BINDING WOMEN'S FEET: Each of the three nude women show "Golden Lotus" or bound feet wearing typical "boots." This is fetish is over 1000 years old in China and was abolished in 1948 with the communist takeover of China. . Manuscript / typescript of 10 erotic poems with cover sheet in pencil giving the title and with the note that these would appear in 1919 in a deluxe edition and in very limited number. Indeed they were published 20 poems in total with the same title very limited 84 copies with erotic woodcuts by Bernard Cochet under his pseudonym Gece. This was in the estate of Edmond Roze d. 1943 a theatrical impresario in Paris who was good friends with Dekobra. These are all erotic and libertine poems celebrating women's buttocks and various erotic pleasures according to one critic evoking the pleasures of both opulent Messaline-type figures the promiscuous third wife of Emperor Claudius and 'vicious fourteen year olds.' Age toning light wear to cover sheet most corrections are insertions of commas and the like. Now fairly unknown Dekobra in his day was known as an edgy and interesting writer and was widely read and admired. paperback
