Now this ability - primary perception - has been traced even to disconnected cells of our own bodies. The implications and possibilities of that discovery, and the difficult struggle it has had in finding acceptance in the tradition-bound scientific community makes exciting, challenging, mind-expanding reading. 249 pages. "I have a passion: unlimited health. In order to reduce this dream, I went to medical school. For many years, I was convinced that I was on the right track. Reality, however, was something else altogether. Thoughts, emotions and feelings, these invisible and untouchable antagonists invariably frustrated me in my scientific work. I then turned to alternative medicines and natural therapies, which offered other solutions for overall health. I set out in search of them to many countries and discovered the benefits they had to offer. But people continue to suffer and die all the same. Why? Why is our state of health constantly deteriorating? Why does our medical system cost so much? Why is it maintained when everyone is so dissatisfied with it? Whom does it profit? Not knowing where to go next, I turned inward. Unlimited health was waiting for me there!" - Author. Distributor's stamp upon half-title page else clean, bright and unmarked with light wear. Appears unread. Nice copy. Book

197518921London: LSP Books. Near Fine in Very Good dj. 1975. 1st U.K. edition. Hardcover. 0853210632 . very nice book slight wear at spine ends just the slightest touch of foxing to top edge; jacket has a couple of tiny tears at spine extremities a couple more at top and bottom edges of rear panel B&W photographs INSCRIBED by the great actor on the title page a personal inscription to director Richard Fleischer and his wife with reference to their past work together: "For Richard & Mickie / with love from James / Let's do a third Dick. But how can we top Mandingo" The previous Fleischer-Mason collaboration had of course been the 1954 Disney classic 20000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA in which Mason memorably portrayed the tragic scientific genius Captain Nemo. Although the book hews to the usual "films of" format with a film-by-film rundown prefaced with an introductory biographical essay what makes this one more than a bit unusual are its incorporation of the actor's own "second thoughts" in the form of his brief commentary sometimes only a single line on each film. The book proper ends with MANDINGO -- making Mason's inscription to Fleischer all the more apt. Despite the sentiment however they were not to work together again -- but really how would they have topped MANDINGO for sheer all-out scenery-chewing tastelessness Signed by Biographee .
