First Edition. a book of 1941 United Kingdom postage stamps in three denominations 6 at 2 1/2d 6 at 2d and 6 at 1/2d each bearing the head of Adolf Hitler designed to look like a contemporary George VI booklet. So authentic looking were the stamps that five years after they were issued many philatelists believed them to be have been produced during the Second World as either a German propaganda device or to quote the Stamp Magazine for a more sinister purpose. Edward Milward-Oliver: "Len Deighton: An Annotated Bibliography 1954-1985". The GPO took a very dim view of these at the time and most of them were recalled and destroyed.
