A lovely period Mother Goose with an average of 3 'Lift the Flaps' on every other page. A Folio sized publication charmingly illustrated in colour throughout with text under each Nursery Rhyme / bottom of the page. The illustrations under the flaps are in b/w. The Illustations by 'vivienne'. Stiffish paper pages referred to as 'cloth-like'. 16 'double fold' pages due to the paperwork for the flaps including the covers. The publication is crenellated/serrated top and bottom and stapled with a black linen strip covering the staples as the spine. No staples visable. Some very light shelf wear to the outside but internally excellent and all 'flaps' working perfectly. Presumed part of a series as I have 3 others of this type. This is numbered 4511. The Original Amazing Dancing Charlie Illusion - Moveable card puppet/doll set complete with Original envelope and Instructions. The Charlie Chaplin figure with his signature mustache and bowler cap is decked out in a red waistcoat with a matching red bow tie and orange-red flower. His legs are jointed at the hips and knees to move freely. A very good unusual animated item - a dancing articulated card model of Charlie Chaplin which can be made to 'dance' following the instructions printed on a separate piece of paper. Both 'Charlie' and the instructions are in a blue/red illustrated lettered but crumpled and edge-torn paper bag with a couple of spots. Despite the creases and tears the bag is COMPLETE however and in overall good condition. 'Charlie' himself and his instruction page are both in VG condition. The Charlie figure when fully extended measures 13" high c. 33 cm. NO date but states "A Souvenir of the Festival " unfortunately it doesn't state which Festival c.1924/30 . From the front of the paper packet = "It Will Amuse and Mystify Your Friends for Hours. No Electricity Springs Expense. It's Amazing Baffling Amusing. Confidential and Secret Instructions Enclosed. It's an Illusion Which Anyone Can Do. Printed on the back = "You have been mystified trying to solve the mystery of how this Doll is working. You can mystify your friends the same way by not telling them the secret. Will give endless amusement to young and old. Please do not divulge the secret of this novelty to your friends."
