All 8vo except the last 3 Volumes - 62/63/64 which are near 4to size but with varying widths the earlier ones are fatter! All uniformly bound in Dark Bluish/Black Half Leather/blue cloth with bright gilt lettering/titling to the spine. Volumes 7 and 8-9 have quite a lot of rubbing/chafing to the spine with one spine re-glued - all the rest are near VG. An Ex- REFERENCE library label each with a 'Discard' stamp on the front pastedown of all 62 vols but o/w with minimal internal markings/stamps. Full of interesting social source material but also lots of articles of interest to the bibliophile. For an Institution the vols already have their dewey designation on the spines. Please ask re- postage as 62 volumes CANNOT be posted for the standard rate. Or if interested in part-set . Publisher's original cobalt blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to the front and back boards and to the spine. The blue boards are bright clean and unfaded. The gold-stamped gilt lettering is crisp highly legible with no fading whatsoever. Pages have aged gracefully to a light cream/off-white. There is no "foxing". The hinges are starting to weaken but are still holding firm. "The Kenya Settlers Cookery Book and Household Guide" published by the East African Standard in Nairobi for the St. Andrews Church Womans Guild isnt just a recipe book it is a historical window into the domestic life of 1950s Kenya. A classic colonial-era Kenyan domestic manual covering cookery household management food preservation Swahili dishes and practical advice for life in East Africa. These editions were produced in relatively small runs and are increasingly difficult to source outside the region. NB: Highly collectible regional African cookbooks continue to rise in demand due to their historical and culinary significance. Wells then later married Frank Russell elder brother of the Nobel prize-winner and philosopher Bertrand Russell. She was a cousin of the New Zealand-born writer Katherine Mansfield. Though known in early life as May her first book introduced her to readers as Elizabeth which she eventually became to friends and finally to family. Publisher's olive-green soft cloth boards with black lettering. A couple of former owner's inscriptions to the front paste-down and front free end-paper otherwise a VG copy with slightly soft spine tips. Firm hinges. Cloth in nice condition. No foxing. Firmly bound. Complete with 123 pages including faintly-lined tissue pages between each page of text for taking notes as issued. One of the tissue pages has a penned recipe on it. There is a 56-page catalogue of to the rear of Thacker Spink & Co's Publications. An early Indian cookery book compiled anonymously by a "Thirty-Five Years' Resident" and containing recipes and cooking methods on rice curries soups fish vegetables preserves liqueurs and more along with information on medicines perfumes and cosmetics. Originally published as a first edition in 1880 which is exceedingly uncommon. This - the reprint form 1891 - occasionally appears but this is a much nicer copy than normally encountered.
