No indication of edition stated as called for. Nicely signed by Faulkner in black fountain pen at the top of the front free endpaper. Quarter-bound in black cloth over sea green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine. A very nice example of this work; a play with long narrative sections continuing the story of Temple Drake introduced two decades earlier in 'Sanctuary'. Faulkner's first book after winning the Nobel Prize. "I Decline to accept the end of man. The very delicate binding is in fine original condition except for inevitable fading of the spine and upper front cover. There is a half inch closed tear in the margin of the title page otherwise a fine copy of a very scarce book.<br/> <br/> Pelican unknown

Very good fresh clean and dark example. This document assigns to Random House directly all future income due Faulkner from a three-way agreement among Faulkner Random House and the William Morris Agency. The document relates to Faulkner's short story "The Old Man" part of his book "Wild Palms" 1939. The story discusses a convict's release to work on a flood control in Mississippi. It was written as a screenplay to be used on television. Unfortunately the project never went through. Faulkner at this time was writing television scripts attempting to raise some money for travel and to have free time to continue writing on his novel "The Town." Faulkner 1897-1962 American novelist; winner of both the Nobel Prize for Literature 1949 and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction 1955.
