Original dust jacket with its iconic design by Kathe Kollwitz is present and fully intact; some professional restoration to a patch of the rear panel lettering.

The tragic tale of the Compson family certainly counted as a masterpiece of the Southern Gothic tradition and an essential development in the stream-of-consciousness narrative technique. Faulkner's fourth novel refuses any simple synopsis or definition -- and likewise its attempted adaptation to the screen. Though Faulkner enjoyed success writing for Hollywood the attempt by Irving Ravetch and Harriet Frank bore little resemblance to the original tour de force.
