The Unvanquished being a somewhat forgotten addition to Faulkner's bibliography this might be the first European edition offered for sale. Covers betray fading and nicks and other signs of wear and imperfection commensurate with age. Aesthetic fraying at the top of the spine but the binding remains structurally sound. Set in Mississippi during and after the US Civil War the novel follows members of the Sartoris family whose later doings were chronicled in the earlier SARTORIS; and Ab Snopes of the Yoknatawpha Snopeses "one of the most pernicious families in all of Faulkner" Padgett.
