br. Il 5 giugno 1959, a Parigi, una piccola folla si raduna nel giardino accanto all'abbazia di Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Fra i presenti, Jean Cocteau: eccolo declamare versi in attesa dell'evento che tutti aspettano con trepidazione: oggi si inaugura il monumento che Pablo Picasso ha realizzato in onore di Guillaume Apollinare. All'appello, però, manca proprio Picasso, e con lui Dora Maar. Sono loro i protagonisti di questa storia. Dal 1918, anno in cui il suo fraterno amico Apollinare era morto, portato via dalla spagnola, l'astro di Picasso aveva iniziato a brillare di luce accecante: non c'era artista più acclamato di lui, in Europa e nel mondo. In quei quarant'anni aveva cambiato stili, case, amici, donne, ma il suo carattere era rimasto lo stesso: irriverente, sulfureo. E così la folla riunita a Saint-Germain, in quel pomeriggio di giugno, si trova davanti una testa in bronzo: bella, bellissima - come avrebbe potuto non esserlo? - e inequivocabilmente femminile. Eppure nessuno ebbe niente da ridire, e meno di tutti Dora Maar, che di quella testa fu la modella. Dora: la fotografa, l'amica dei surrealisti, la musa di Guernica che la brutalità di Picasso aveva trasformato nella "Femme qui pleure", soggetto straziato della sua produzione a cavallo fra gli anni trenta e quaranta. "La testa scambiata" è la storia delle vicende che legarono questi artisti, amici, amanti; una storia in cui il più potente motore delle sorti umane, l'amore, è declinato in tutte le sue forme, dalle più lievi alle più torbide. Ma" La testa scambiata "è anche la storia dell'arte del Novecento vista attraverso la lente di chi quella storia l'ha tessuta: a raccontarcela è Enzo Restagno, profondo conoscitore degli intrecci infiniti e inestricabili che congiungono vita e arte. Girovagando per la Parigi che vide il genio di Picasso all'opera, osservando con acutezza le sue sculture e i suoi dipinti, Restagno racconta una fiaba moderna, che della fiaba ha i toni drammatici, il valore paradigmatico, ma non il lieto fine.
