Single sheet 320 x 210 mm written on both sides in a contemporary late Gothic cursive hand approximately 70 lines in total. Dated "4 Ag. 1501" 4 August and heading "Ferdinandus" at head of text. Old pen identification to left margin attributing the document to Ferdinand II of Aragon 1479-1515. Unbound. Central vertical fold with some loss and chipping to margins a few small holes and areas of wear but the text substantially preserved. Hand watermark visible when held to light. Waterstaining to upper right hand corner. Good. An early sixteenth-century Latin administrative or legal manuscript apparently issued under or relating to the authority of Ferdinand II of Aragon. The text is written in a formal chancery-style cursive hand and contains numerous legal and administrative formulae including references to royal authority officials witnesses and public testimony. While the precise subject matter has not been fully identified the manuscript appears to form part of a judicial notarial or governmental proceeding. A genuine Renaissance manuscript dated 4 August 1501 surviving from the period of Ferdinand and Isabella and retaining its contemporary heading date and watermark. . Good. No copies in OCLC of this edition and only a few of the original 1568 edition. Isabella of Aragon 1501-1563 born in Naples became the Duchess of Milan through marriage to Sforza and also was awarded the Duchy of Bari. She was a celebrated beauty extolled by the poets and for a while was thought to be the inspiration of Da Vinci's Mona Lisa until the painting was officially dated in the 1490s making that impossible. Sur la page 39 nous trouvons le poème inédit "Il manque une tapisserie." en fac-similé et sur le 1er feuillet une jolie dédicace signée Henriette et Michel. Les poèmes de ce brillant et émouvant hommage aux résistants se trouvent ici magnifiés par les 25 remarquables et parfois douloureuses illustrations de Valdo Barbey. Aragon est mobilisé en 1939 comme médecin auxiliaire et part pour la frontière belge. Sur le front il fait l'expérience des chairs blessées de la violence extrême de la Première Guerre mondiale d'une horreur dont on ne revient jamais mais qui réapparaîtra constamment dans son uvre.
