Includes the true first world-wide appearance of the article that was eventually published 8 months later in the UK Sunday Times magazine under the title "James Bonds Hardware. This rather lengthy for a magazine article written by Fleming details his long association with gun expert Geoffrey Boothroyd whom Fleming used as the model for armourer "Q" in the Bond books and how the two of them decided on the various guns that James Bond should use the Walther PPK was not in fact James Bond's preferred weapon of choice despite what the movies would have you believe. It was never published in book form. Magazine is in near fine or better condition for its age with no wear to the spine. An important magazine article. A bright example with some miniscule rubbing and the slightest of surface loss to the spine tips. One small tear at foot of joint to front flap. A hint of toning to spine with some light spotting. Inscribed by the Author to the title page: "To Harry/ from/ Ian". This copy has been in a private collection for more than 20 years. The identity of "Harry" is most likely to be Harry Saltzman the co-producer of the first 9 Bond films and this was certainly the understanding of its former owner.
