Virginia Woolf saggista", prendendo le mosse dai contributi sul genere saggio vergati da Lukács, Adorno, Steiner, Berardinelli e altri, si sofferma sui più rilevanti scritti critici di Woolf per dimostrare come il carattere apparentemente asistematico dei suoi saggi poggi invece su un metodo che coincide con l'alto spessore interpretativo e cognitivo che li caratterizza. Sorretta da un'intelligenza finissima, da una inconfondibile ironia e da una totale e fiera libertà di giudizio, Virginia Woolf accompagna il lettore attraverso percorsi critici che, scanditi dalle armonie irregolari del suo pensiero e in virtù di quel principio di onestà intellettuale che sottende ogni suo atto di lettura e di scrittura, conducono all'intuizione geniale su quell'autore o su quell'opera, alla visione definitiva in cui sempre si sentono vibrare la sua sensibilità e il suo coraggio.
