1920720New York: George H. Doran Company 1920. Good. Bright green cloth boards black spine lettering blind stamped title within an ornamental border on front panel. 8 508 2 pp. No dust jacket present bibliographers had not seen one to date. Ink stamp of the private lending library of the Chatterbox Club St. Albans Maine on front pastedown with slight offset to front free endpaper; rear free endpaper and pastedown have a library slip and a reference card attached. The book appears to have only been checked out twice June 15 1932 and March 28 1934. Pages 14 & 15 seem to have adhered to each other in the past and then forced apart with a loss of the text therein. The Chatterbox Club was a women's service club that encouraged women and girls to broaden their education and social service commitments it also functioned as a catering club. Still a good copy of a remarkable book with the price reduced to reflect the recently noted loss.

First US edition first impression. Published 29 September 1920; no record of the number of copies or impressions printed. "It is probable that Doran printed only one impression. Sales to 1929 were 1326 copies. It is likely that any balance was taken over by Harcourt Brace & Co. who purchased the publishing rights and plates on 20 April 1925." Kirkpatrick page 20. KIRKPATRICK & CLARKE A6b. George H. Doran Company unknown
