ABOUT THE BOOK The book focuses on the impact of gender specific risks including especially hardships, discrimination and violence on women's general health, psychological health and well- being and at exploring strategies for support, treatment and prevention in this important area. Ignoring and discrimination against women's health is also perceived as violence against women. This book strengthen research and offer solutions to the stigma of gender and mental health and the role of women, addressing evidence based practice, health promotion, and ethical standards. The book intends to focus on health concerns of women belonging especially to the economically and socially marginalized sections. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. K. MANIMEKALAI, Professor and Head, Department of Women's Studies, and currently Director in Directorate of Distance Education, Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, India. She worked as a Vice- Chancellor, Mother Teresa Women University, Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, former Registrar and former Dean of Alagappa University. She has 31 years of experience in teaching and research, training and extension programmes. She has produced a number of M.Phil and PhD candidates. She has published more than 70 publications as books, articles, and research reports. Her area of specialization is women empowerment, gender and development and prevention of gender-based violence.
