The letter reads: 'Dear Mr Garth I am very sorry to hear of the <> <case> near <Bagshot> but I am afraid that I a powerless in the matter as the <shooting> at <> has been handed over to the Duke of Connaught & I have sent your letter as well as Talbots letter to the Duke.' The reverse of the second leaf carries the following pencil note written in a no better hand and signed 'J. S.
