1st separate edition. Reprinted from The Jewish Forum August and October, 1922. 4to. 11 pages; 25 cm. An article discussing the Jewish textual support for allowing women to take on pulpit roles in congregations. Rabbi David Aronson was a leading rabbi and author. Born in Russia in 1892, Mr. Aronson attended New York University, Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. After ordination in 1919, Rabbi Aronson served congregations in Salt Lake City and Duluth, Minn. , before joining Beth El in 1924. From 1948 to 1950, he was president of the Rabbinical Assembly of America, an assembly of 1, 200 Conservative rabbis (NYT 1988) . Woman is once more on the program. This time she comes chaperoned by the Central Conference of American Rabbis, and is on her way, -no, not to a Sisterhood Whist Party or to a Sabbath school entertainment, -but to assume her place in the pulpit. Henceforth, she may function as a Rebitzin in her own name and of her own right, and not merely as the wife of a He-rabbi. For the Central Conference of American Rabbis decided at its last convention that In view of Jewish teachings and in keeping with the spirit of our age, women cannot be denied the privilege of ordination as rabbis. 022565Detroit: Detroit Chapter of N.O.W. Publisher. Tabloid. Good. no date presumed 1968 based on dates in the paper. Tabloid newspaper format a single sheet folded into 4 pages. With a few illustrations. Perhaps a one off sort of underground press publication issued by the Detroit chapter of the National Organization of Women. According to the editorial on the front the South End a paper published at Wayne State University published an article on women and issues facing them in American society but spent most of the article discussing women's sex live and their relationships to family and embraced and perpetuated stereotypes as well. Thus the Detroit NOW published this rebuttal paper including essays and letters highlighting the vast inequality in America between men and women. NOW is a feminist organization working for women's rights and equality. It was founded in 1966. GOOD condition. Paper very brittle with many tears along the extremities. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. Some creasing and wrinkling. Detroit Chapter of N.O.W., Publisher unknown

Handbill calls for voting rights for women on the "same terms" as men.

The WSPU was a women's voting group that became famous for its radical and sometimes violent tactics. This leaflet outlines some of their demands in measured reasonable and language and emphasize that they believe "a woman shall not be refused a vote simply because she is a woman." They go on to list prerequisites for voting which men in the UK had to achieve & assert that there are over a million women who meet these same standards and would become enfranchised.
