In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Pictorial onlay of 'Ginger' detached to tail but present. Loss to head of onlay of 'Tiptioes. Large ink mark to tail of 'Ginger' front board and tail of rear board with pencil inscriptions to centre of 'Tailor' front board. 'Tailor' joints starting with rear board a touch tender. Former owner's pencil inscription to 'Nutkin' front pastedown and ink inscription to verso of 'Tiptoes' front free endpaper. Internally 'Timmy' and 'Tailor' bindings strained in places with two gatherings of 'Tiptoes' working loose. Remaining volumes firmly bound. Eighteen volumes of later editions of the classic children's tales of author and illustrator Beatrix Potter each richly illustrated in colour throughout.Beginning in 1901 with the private printing of 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit' following a mischievous and disobedient young Peter Rabbit as he is chased around the garden of Mr McGregor twenty-three of these charming children's tales were published in total. Two volumes 'The Tale of Flopsy Bunnies' and 'The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse' are in the original unclipped dust wrappers and each illustrated with a frontispiece and twenty-six plates. Collated complete. Each printed image has a tissue guard and is enclosed in its own gray folder with a number and an excerpt of text printed on it. There is also a separate booklet with an introduction by Maurice Sendak included. It is all contained in an original slate blue cloth-covered clamshell box.
